VCD Hosts Financial Education Workshop to Empower Local Families

On Monday, Jan. 27, Victorious Community Development (VCD) hosted a Financial Education Community Workshop at the Houghton-Jones Neighborhood Association in Saginaw. The event aimed to equip attendees with valuable financial knowledge to build a more secure future.

Leading the discussion was Patricia Franklin-Lindsey, Vice President, Community Development Relationship Manager at Huntington National Bank. Franklin-Lindsey guided attendees through essential topics, including budgeting, credit building, savings strategies, certificates of deposit (CDs), checking and savings accounts, and financial planning for long-term success. The workshop emphasized practical financial skills, helping participants develop healthier financial habits to support economic stability.
In addition to the interactive discussion, several financial institutions were present to provide additional resources and guidance. Representatives included:
- Emily Migut from Dow Credit Union
- Derek Lewis and Tomeka Smith from Financial Plus Credit Union
- Kimberly Scofield from Team One Credit Union
Each organization set up informational tables, offering brochures, financial tools, and one-on-one consultations to help attendees better understand their financial options.

As part of its ongoing efforts, VCD continues to provide educational programs focused on financial literacy, career readiness, and economic empowerment.
