VCD Empowers Youth and Families at Community Gathering
Victorious Community Development (VCD) recently hosted a powerful Community Gathering as part of our Safe City Initiative, created to empower families and strengthen our neighborhoods. We were blessed to have strong partners and community leaders join us in support of this mission.
We were fortunate to welcome:
- Tom Miller Jr., President of Saginaw Future
- Kyle McCree, Consumers Energy Director of Community Affairs
- Team One Credit Union representatives, including Branch Manager Michael Hayes and Director of Community Relations Kim Scofield

Each partner shared vital information, including new job opportunities, pathways to stable employment, and financial strategies to help families meet their everyday needs.
Consumers Energy also provided important winter heating tips and resources to help families keep their homes warm, safe, and energy-efficient during the upcoming winter months. Our children enjoyed spending time with the Saginaw Police Department, who hopped and jumped with the children, played games, connected with them, and answered their questions. These positive interactions are essential in building trust and helping youth see officers as allies and community helpers.
VCD is grateful for the support of the MCOLES grant, which helps us build a safer city while giving youth opportunities to learn how they can be part of the solution. The grant allows us to provide tools, mentoring, and hands-on engagement that encourage youth to become leaders in their own community.

We are also proud to share that VCD has helped over 20 community members secure jobs at Hemlock Semiconductor, Corning, Covenant Healthcare, and other employers moving families toward stability and long-term success.
Together, we are building a stronger, safer Saginaw one family, one opportunity, and one act of empowerment at a time.
