Victorious Believers Ministries Commits $200,000 to Community Impact !!

Continuing the Legacy: Investing in Children, Families, and Community

Victorious Believers Ministries is proud to continue its long-standing commitment to strengthening children, families, and communities through a financial investment of $200,000 over the next couple of years to support the vision and programming of the Bishop Marvin C. Pryor Impact Center and Victorious Community Development. This investment reflects the heart and legacy of our founding pastor, Bishop Marvin C. Pryor, whose passion for education, community development, and family empowerment transformed countless lives throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. Today, that legacy continues through the leadership of his son, Pastor Chris Pryor, who remains committed to carrying forward the vision his father established.

In 2018, Victorious Believers Ministries celebrated the payoff of its church mortgage, creating new opportunities to invest resources directly into initiatives that support children, families, education, workforce development, and community transformation. Rather than simply maintaining facilities, the ministry chose to expand its impact by investing in people and programs that create lasting change.  VBM Board President Kwame Akouwa emphasized the significance of this commitment:  “The needs within our community are great, and so is the opportunity to make a difference. While I did not have the privilege of personally knowing Bishop Pryor, I’m grateful for the leadership of his son, Pastor Chris Pryor, who is continuing a legacy of service, vision, and investment in the lives of others. This commitment demonstrates that the vision is not only being preserved but it is growing.” Vice Chair Elder William Waters shared a deeply personal reflection: “Supporting this vision was an easy decision. Bishop Pryor was not only my pastor, but also my principal at Flint Northern High School. He impacted my life in ways that continue to shape me today. His example inspired me to pursue strong family values, personal growth, and a deeper walk with Christ. His influence helped guide me into a life of service and education.”  Waters, who serves as the longest-tenured teacher in Bridgeport Public Schools, credits much of his personal and professional development to the leadership and mentorship he received from Bishop Pryor.

Pastor Chris Pryor reflected on the significance of continuing his father’s work:  “As a son, I am grateful for the opportunity to keep my father’s legacy alive. He strongly believed in children and families. He loved all people and believed that anyone could overcome life’s challenges if given an opportunity through education, encouragement, and faith. I’m thankful for the entire Victorious Believers Ministries Board of Directors, who faithfully fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities as we continue investing in our children, families, and community while also maintaining and improving the church facility that has served as our home for the past 27 years.”

This investment represents more than financial support it is a commitment to future generations. Through strategic partnerships, educational opportunities, workforce initiatives, and community-centered programming, Victorious Believers Ministries remains dedicated to creating pathways of hope, opportunity, and success for all.
